Hi, this is me ... Kerstin Stiller.

I'm a self-taught artist and create artwork in my free time. I've been drawing as a child with pencils and colored pencils. First I did draw from pictures, later on I've put down my own ideas on paper.

As a teenager I've decided to buy me a set of acrylic paint, a canvas or two, and other supplies and started to experiment. That was the milestone in my life where I've found my passion for acrylics and abstract painting. I'm getting inspired by trying out new techniques, attending workshops and art classes, or watching videos online.

I'm a graduate from the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal with a B.A. in Industrial Design. Currently I'm employed as a Mechanical Engineer.

You can find my artwork periodically throughout the year during juried all media shows at Crossroads Art Center or Art Works. I do have a thing for squares and textures.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Abstraction means reduction for me, as well as minimalizing and simplifying. By looking at abstract art, we tend to look deeper and search for 'known patterns' on a subconcious level. Ultimately that abstract piece is always asking questions to the viewer. So, decide for yourself – what do you see?

VISION
I paint whatever inspiration triggers a flash in my head and plants that new painting behind my inner eye.
